Spring Oil Storage Tank Maintenance

March 21, 2022

The spring is a good time to assess your home heating system in preparation for the next heating season. This is especially true for your oil storage tank! Take the time to inspect your aboveground tank to find any issues and address them.

Maintain your oil storage tank during the spring with these tips:

  • Keep a full tank. We’ve stressed this before, but it’s always important to keep your tank full. Keeping a full tank will prevent sediment buildup that can damage the equipment.
  • Have a professional check out your tank. At the beginning and the end of each cold season, you should call Tomasso Bros. to have one of our technicians take a look at your tank. We can spot signs of overuse, damage, or corrosion.
  • Tighten fill and vent caps. Securing all fill and vent caps will prevent air from getting into the tank. The less air that gets into the tank, the safer the tank will be.

The good news is that Tomasso Bros. Energy - our sister company - is New Jersey’s oil storage tank expert!
